Walk for STM

From Tony Dunhill:

I am again taking part in a 10 mile sponsored walk THIS SATURDAY, 9th October, in support of the Basildon Schools Team Ministry. The walk starts at St Paul’s Church, Ballards Walk, and we’ll visit about 14 other Basildon churches along the route.

I was able to raise £190 on the walk last year, and I’d like to invite you to sponsor me for this worthy cause. I support the Schools Team Ministry because of the tremendous work they do in helping the youth of Basildon see that Jesus Christ is so relevant to their needs. It really is an investment in our future citizens. If you’d like to support the STM please see or ring me, and I’ll sign you up. (I’ll collect the money from you later.) Thank you!

Harvest Supper

Saturday 9th October, 7.15 for 7.30 pm at St John’s. Fish/chicken & chips (veggie option), Karaoke entertainment. Tickets £6 from Moreen at St John’s, or Ruth at St Mary’s. Please state meal choice when purchasing ticket before 6th October.

Operation Christmas Child

Can you spare £2.50 and an old shoe box? If the answer is YES then please pick up a leaflet from St Mary’s or St John’s. I am co-ordinating a collection of shoebox gifts for the Samaritans Purse charity. The filled boxes will be distributed to needy children all around the world. We are all so fortunate. Our houses are warm and full of clothes and food. Your precious gift may be the only one that a child receives this Christmas so please give generously. Please leave your filled box at St John’s Church between 3rd and 18th November.
Thank you, Jill Hurley.
